Area Youth Complete Babysitter Training Course

Jun 15, 2018

Twenty-four babysitters completed the recent training course at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.

Attending the seven-hour class were Emma Boden, Lydia Gery, Alex Putnam, Nic Putnam, Rylee Rowe and Macy Wentling from Carey; Willow Eatherton and Angela Noakes from Forest; Jessica Nye from New Riegel; Olivea Eingle, Aley Schock, Beth Schock and Jenna Weaver from Sycamore; Kaylynn Meybee from Tiffin; and Lia Barth, Cassidy Breidenbach, Ashlyn Dennis, Ethan Compton, Addison Feasel, Zoe Konkle, Avery Kraus, Emma Mawer, Brianna Thiel and Hannah Windau from Upper Sandusky.

The youth attending the babysitter training course learned important safety guidelines from Dennis Wilson of the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Department, and Chad Ward of the Upper Sandusky Fire Department discussed fire safety and practiced drills with the babysitters.

Wyandot Memorial Hospital nurses participating in the training included Tammy Jeffrey on infant care and April Manns for first aid and CPR. Wellness Center Dietitian Michelle Mozilla talked to the youth about nutrition and helped the class create several healthy snacks for tasting.

Exercise physiologist and course coordinator Fortune Bormuth addressed poisons, growth and development, expectations for babysitters and job skills.

Those sitters completing the course who have parental permission may have their name on a referral list available at the hospital.

Wyandot Memorial Hospital began offering the free babysitter training program in 1985 as a community service.  For more information about the next class or the list of sitters, contact the Wellness Center by phoning 419-294-4991, extension 2236, or emailing
